Tammy & Kyle’s Epic Mt. Rainier Elopement: A Love Story with the Best Views

Some love stories are so adventurous, so full of spontaneity, that they could easily be the plot of a romantic movie. Tammy and Kyle’s elopement at Mt. Rainier National Park was exactly that—complete with unexpected weather, a last-minute location change, the most delicious sandwiches, and even a surprise visit from a rare Cascade Red Fox.

But the best part? These two sweethearts drove all the way from Texas with their adorable pups just to say “I do” in one of the most breathtaking places in the world. After seven months of planning, we finally got to meet them, and let us tell you—this day was so worth the wait.

If you’ve ever dreamed of an elopement that feels like something out of a storybook, this is your sign to go for it. Because when you strip away the stress of a traditional wedding and embrace the adventure, magic happens.

Why Photo and Video Matter on Your Elopement Day

Eloping is all about being present in the moment—breathing in the fresh mountain air, feeling the wind in your hair, and soaking up every second of this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. But after the day is over, the only thing that remains (besides your love, of course) are the memories captured through photo and video.

Your wedding day deserves to be documented in a way that transports you back to those raw, emotional moments—the mist rolling over the mountains, the look in your partner’s eyes as you say your vows, the laughter, the happy tears, and all the tiny, unscripted moments in between. Photography preserves the still frames of your love story, while video brings it to life, capturing every movement, every whisper, and every feeling.

Whether you want to relive your elopement through a stunning gallery of images or hear your vows again years down the road, hiring a Mt. Rainier Photography and Videography team ensures your adventure is never forgotten.

From Texas to the Pacific Northwest: A Love Story on the Road

Not everyone would willingly embark on a 2,000-mile road trip just to get married, but that’s exactly what Tammy and Kyle did. They packed up their car, loaded up their pups, and made the epic drive from Texas to Washington, chasing the elopement of their dreams.

We first met them at their cozy cabin, where the excitement was already buzzing. They were surrounded by a dozen of their favorite people. Their dogs were soaking up all the love and you could feel the anticipation in the air.

After getting ready, they shared a sweet and intimate first look outside the cabin. There’s something so beautiful about that moment—when the world fades away and it’s just the two of you, seeing each other for the first time on the most important day of your lives.

Since dogs aren’t allowed inside Mt. Rainier National Park, they took a little extra time to cuddle their pups before heading out for their riverside ceremony. And let’s be real—dogs may not understand weddings, but they definitely know when something special is happening.

A Stunning Ceremony by the River

As Tammy and Kyle made their way to their ceremony location, the Pacific Northwest weather decided to put on a show. A thick fog started rolling in, giving everything an ethereal, almost mystical vibe. Their ceremony was a little drive down the mountain, which just happened to be clear of fog!

With their closest family and friends gathered beside the rushing river, they exchanged vows in a setting so beautiful it could have been a painting. The fog mist swirled above them, the sound of the water added a natural soundtrack, and their love took center stage.

It was the kind of wedding that didn’t need extravagant decorations or over-the-top details. Just two people, deeply in love, standing in one of the most breathtaking places on earth, promising forever.

A Last-Minute Pivot for the Perfect View of Mt. Rainier

Here’s the thing about eloping in the mountains—Mother Nature doesn’t always check the itinerary.

After the ceremony, we drove to a spot where we could check the Mt. Rainier webcams (because yes, we come prepared!). The view was completely socked in with fog. But, because we know this park like the back of our hands, we had a backup plan.

A different side of the mountain was completely clear, so Tammy, Kyle, and their whole crew drove an extra hour to chase the view. And let us tell you—it was so worth it.

As soon as we arrived, there it was—Mt. Rainier in all its glory, bathed in golden light. The mountain, which had been hiding all day, decided to show up just in time for their portraits. Talk about cinematic.

As we hiked along the trails, taking photos and video and capturing every joyful moment, Tammy and Kyle were absolutely glowing. They twirled, laughed, and soaked in every second of their mountain-top adventure.

A Dreamy Picnic, Cake Cutting, and Lanterns Under the Stars

Meanwhile, their family was busy setting up a beautiful little dinner at the picnic tables—complete with Cubano and caprese sandwiches, and actual Olive Garden salad. (Yes, we were lucky enough to snag some, and YES, it was delicious.)

After a cake cutting, a few drinks, and plenty of laughter, we waited for the perfect light to release lanterns into the night sky. Imagine this—soft flickering light, a cool mountain breeze, and everyone standing together under a sea of stars.

Pure. Magic.

An Unexpected Guest: The Cascade Red Fox

As if the day wasn’t already straight out of a fairy tale, nature decided to give us one last surprise—a rare Cascade Red Fox.

Unlike typical red foxes, Cascade Red Foxes can come in different colors—including black and silver, like the one we saw. These elusive creatures live in the high-elevation habitats of the southern Cascades, and spotting one is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It was the perfect ending to an already unforgettable day.

Why Leave No Trace Matters for Elopements

With great adventure comes great responsibility. We LOVE taking couples to breathtaking locations, but we also believe in protecting these places so they stay beautiful for years to come.

We make sure all our couples:

  • ✅ Stay on designated trails
  • ✅ Pack out everything they bring in
  • ✅ Respect wildlife and keep a safe distance
  • ✅ Choose ethical locations that allow small ceremonies

Eloping in the wild is an amazing experience, and when we take care of these places, they’ll be here for future love stories too.
