Amanda + Colin’s North Cascades Hiking Elopement

An Intimate Washington Elopement With 360° Mountain Views

There’s something wildly special about an elopement that feels earned. One that starts at a trailhead, unfolds step by step through alpine terrain, and ends with vows spoken at the edge of the world.

Amanda and Colin’s North Cascades hiking elopement was exactly that.

Just the two of them. No crowds. No distractions. Just fifteen years of love, a crisp fall morning in Washington, and some of the most breathtaking mountain views the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

As a Washington elopement photographer and videographer team, documenting days like this is why we do what we do.

Why the North Cascades Are One of the Best Places to Elope in Washington

If you’re dreaming of eloping in Washington and want dramatic alpine scenery, quiet trails, and true adventure, the North Cascades are hard to beat.

Often called the American Alps, the North Cascades offer:

  • Jagged peaks and glaciated mountains
  • Endless hiking options for adventurous couples
  • Fewer crowds than some of the other national parks
  • Unreal fall color in late September and October
  • Panoramic views in nearly every direction

On Amanda and Colin’s elopement day, Washington absolutely showed off.

From the summit, we had sweeping 360° views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, Ruth Mountain, and what felt like an endless sea of peaks stretching toward the horizon.

It was one of those days where the mountains feel alive, generous, and completely unforgettable!

Traveling From Nantucket to Washington for an Elopement

Amanda and Colin traveled all the way from Nantucket to elope in Washington, and honestly, this is something we see often with couples who want their wedding day to feel like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We would go so far as to say most of our couples come from places other than Washington to get married!

Washington elopements are perfect for destination couples because:

  • You can combine your wedding and honeymoon
  • The landscapes feel cinematic and untouched
  • There’s a huge variety of scenery within a short drive
  • You can fully unplug and be present together

After fifteen years together, Amanda and Colin knew exactly what they wanted. A day that felt meaningful, joyful, and deeply them.

And hiking into the North Cascades was the perfect way to honor that.Elopement couple walking along a mountain trail in the North Cascades with autumn colors

A Just-the-Two-of-Us Hiking Elopement Day

Their day unfolded slowly and intentionally.

We met at the trailhead as fall colors lit up the landscape around us. The air was crisp, the light was soft, and the trail felt quiet in that peaceful way that only autumn in the mountains can feel.

From the very start, the energy was effortless.

We laughed the entire hike. There were inside jokes, stolen glances, and that kind of comfort that only comes from years of choosing each other again and again.

No timeline pressure.
No expectations.
Just moving forward together.

Exchanging Vows With 360° Mountain Views

At the summit, surrounded by peaks in every direction, Amanda and Colin read their vows.

It was emotional, heartfelt, and filled with laughter. The kind of vows that reflect a partnership built on friendship as much as love.

Moments like this are why elopements in the North Cascades feel so powerful. When it’s just the two of you, the experience becomes less about performing and more about being present.

After their ceremony, they cut a mini cake right there at the top of the world. A small but joyful celebration that felt perfectly fitting for a day centered on intention rather than tradition.

Lanterns, Stars, and Ending the Day in Magic

As the sun dipped lower, the light shifted to those soft alpine blues that make Washington evenings feel otherworldly.

We wrapped up their elopement with lanterns and star photos, letting the night settle in around us while the mountains stood quietly in the background.

Lanterns and night photos are one of our favorite ways to end a Washington elopement. They slow the pace, invite reflection, and create a sense of closure that feels both cinematic and intimate.

It was the perfect ending to a day that already felt unreal.

Planning a North Cascades Hiking Elopement

If Amanda and Colin’s day resonates with you, here are a few things to know about planning a North Cascades elopement:

  • Fall is incredible for color, cooler temperatures, and fewer crowds
  • Permits may be required depending on location and group size
  • Accessibility varies and choosing the right hike matters
  • Weather can change quickly, so flexibility is key
  • Photo and video coverage together helps preserve both the still moments and the movement of the day

This is where working with a team who understands Washington’s terrain, lighting, and logistics makes all the difference.

Why We Love Documenting Washington Elopements Like This

Amanda and Colin’s elopement is a perfect example of what we believe elopements are really about.

Not running away.
Not doing less.
But choosing more intention.

More presence.
More connection.
More space to be yourselves.

Amanda and Colin, your North Cascades elopement is one we’ll never forget. Thank you for trusting us to document such a meaningful chapter of your story.
