Kim and Alex’s Winter Wonderland Elopement
We first met Kim and Alex for their engagement session at Mt. Rainier! They were awesome, and we got to explore some of the park with them while it was a winter wonderland! A couple of months later they reached out to see if we were available to document their elopement and, obviously, we said yes! The first step was jumping on a Zoom call to sort out all the details and pick a location for their elopement. After going over all the options, Kim and Alex decided that this wonderous spot with a view of both Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker was the place they wanted to have their ceremony. We set a date, and the planning began in earnest! Due to the winter timeframe, we sent over a gear list with recommended items to make sure everyone was safe and warm and kept a close eye on the weather as well as avalanche conditions.
On Kim and Alex’s elopement day, the weather could not have been more perfect. It was a bluebird day with great hiking conditions. Kim, Alex, and Kim’s sister, Ashley, who was also their officiant, were a blast to hike with as they were fun, always had a joke ready, and were amenable to us constantly fluttering around them to get video and still shots of them on the journey there.
Once all of us arrived we made a quick camp and fired up the stove and Coleman prepared some ramen for everyone before the preparations began. After eating a warm meal, Kim found a hideaway to get ready with the help of her sister after Alex jumped into his suit real quick. While Alex waited anxiously for the first look of Kim in her stunning dress.
After a touching first look, the ceremony was heartfelt and beautiful as Ashley performed the duties with personal stories and tears all around. After the ceremony, we spent time exploring, documenting Kim and Alex’s newly minted love, and basking in the pastel sky’s beauty.
A quick night hike back and we were at the cars, where we made steaks for the trio, signed marriage licenses, and celebrated!
